Mark Steventon

Mark joined TMS in 2006 as Senior Road Safety Consultant after serving 30 years as a Police Officer. Mark was the team leader of the Warwickshire Police Road Safety Unit, working in partnership with local highway authorities to reduce road casualties through engineering, enforcement and education. His road policing experience includes the supervision of traffic law enforcement and the investigation of serious injury and fatal road traffic collisions.
Mark is qualified to post-graduate degree level in law and has a particular interest in the potential liability of highway authorities for accidents arising from the use of the roads. He has provided expert witness reports and given expert witness evidence in criminal and civil proceedings arising from road accidents involving allegations of contributory highway factors.
At TMS, Mark is also involved in carrying out road safety audits, accessibility audits, quality audits, safety assessments, AIP and other project work. Since 2006, Mark has completed over 2000 road safety audits and holds a certificate of competence in road safety audit. His experience includes audits at all stages of major and minor schemes in the UK and Ireland. Mark is registered with IHE as a Temporary Traffic Management Engineer and holds the IHE Certificate in Temporary Traffic Management.
Mark has been involved in the development and delivery of training courses for TMS, including the IHE Highway Inspectors Board approved 4-day modular training course for local authority highway inspectors.
